Monday February 15th 7pm - Crescent Oaks CC. Public Forum on Annexation Protection and Community Overlays. Learn more about proposed state legislation being introduced in 2010 by Representative Peter Nehr and sponsored by CNCN. This is the 2nd of several public information sessions to educate the 33,000 residents and businesses in East Lake about the proposed bill. Discussions will also be held on Community Overlays. Everyone is invited to come and ask questions and find answers to everything related to the pros and cons of this proposed legislation Monday February 15th at 7pm at the Crescent Oaks Country Club. Click here for directions.

CNCN 2010 Annual Meeting results

CNCN held it's annual meeting on January 19, 2010 and elects new board of directors. One new director was elected to the board: Ray Cannon from Crystal Beach joins the board of 9 directors. The board also confirmed and appointed officers and discussed goals for 2010.

 Our Current Causes
CNCN is already actively involved in:

Building Stronger Communities 2010: Generating interest in communities to be a part of a larger group to share common goals and ideas. Join us for monthly meetings to discuss how you can work with other communities in your area on issues of common interest.

Help design a Community Overlay for East Lake to help define the quality of life standards for this area of 33,000 residents. A new committee has been formed to help gather information on this important project to be voted on by all East Lake communities and submitted to the county Planning Department to be included in the County's Comprehensive Plan. Additional Areas of Involvement:

Initiative to "Protect the borders of the area known as East Lake" from annexation by surrounding cities. We are working with the State Legislature to draft new legislation to provide an "all or nothing" requirement for any future annexation attempt. This important document was submitted to the state legislature for the 2010 session.

Working with the County for alternative solutions for the much needed sports fields in North County. Update 01/31/10 We are working with SWFWMD and the County to move the parking to an adjacent vacant field to provide better safety for the children a more space. Update 11/06/08: CNCN publishes "Study for Active Recreation Facilities in East Lake" paper to help everyone understand what's happening.

We are working with the residents of Tarpon Woods with the flooding they have experienced for decades. Update 01/2010: County Public Works begins construction project to lay new pipe under Toniwood road to significantly reduce flooding during peak rain events.

Working with the county on the Keystone / Tarpon Avenue widening project. Update 01/2010: County has begun preliminary road and survey work for the project. Final bid to be awarded in February 2010.

Formed an alliance with Clearwater Neighborhood Coalition (CNC) to work together on issues affected Pinellas County.

Supported CONA St. Petersburg efforts related to the newly proposed Rays Stadium in downtown St. Pete.

CNCN Mission

The mission of the Council is to bring together the North County's neighborhoods to promote communication and cooperation between member organizations of Northern Pinellas County, to foster a sense of community, to provide a forum for member organizations, and most important is to act as a neighborhood advocate for the benefit of our member organizations and to bring a common voice to county government including and not limited to the Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners.

CNCN is a non-profit Florida Corporation (501c4) organized to represent communities in Northern Pinellas County.

CONA - St PeteWe are associated with Council of Neighborhood Associations in St Petersburg http://conastpete.org/ and supportive of their efforts.

We have also formed an alliance with the Clearwater Neighborhood Coalition in Clearwater FL http://clearwatercoalition.com and help support their initiatives


We support the efforts for a baseball stadium in Pinellas County through the A Baseball Community, Inc group in St Petersburg http://abc-baseball.com
